I had an opportunity to train with Vincent Pasdeloup at the SMX Factory School at Glen Helen on Saturday morning, August 15th. Simply put; AMAZING! From the time he arrived it was all about me and my bike. He started out going over every aspect of my 2017 Honda CRF450R explaining everything that I needed to know about the maintenance, the brakes, clutch, tightening this and tightening that.
Then the training started. Glen Helen has some very steep climbs and then what goes up must come down. He had me go to different sections of the MX course and practice, practice and practice. I’m paraphrasing but basically he said “You won’t have a lot of fun today but you’re going to learn.” Yeah, I did. I was exhausted. He told me that I had developed some bad habits and he was going to teach me the new correct habits I needed to ride. One bad habit I had was sitting tooooo far back on my butt on the seat. To correct this he folded a spare tire tube and duct taped it to the seat so I would feel and know where I should be when I went into the corners. He then adjusted the clutch handle so I couldn’t reach it so I couldn’t use it to change gears when going into and out of the corners. He also taught me when to use and not use the rear brakes. Until you’re taught how to do things right you never know you’re doing them wrong! Some of my training click here [X]
Vincent was the greatest trainer; never got mad; never raised his voice; never embarrassed me for not knowing this or not knowing that. I learned more in the four hours than I’ve learned ever before. I could go on and on but if you want to know more about the school click on this link https://smxfactoryschoolusa.com/ and you’ll be glad you did.
If you possibly can please remember to look at my GoFundMe page and donate if you can. Every penny actually really, really helps me. https://gf.me/u/ymb5px
This sums up perfectly what we have approached in such short amount of time and you guys are the reason why I love to pass on knowledge of Motorsport! Keep the good work up buddy!
